"Your smile already did."
The first Friday I started to hand out the bags, I was in my office with about 5 students explaining to them what the KIND program was and why they were getting the bags in their backpacks. One of the girls got a huge smile on her face and said, "What a nice man Mr. Jeremy is to do this for us. How can I thank him?" I simply replied, "Your smile already did."
"Of course you are."
It was Friday afternoon around 1:00PM and I was standing in the hallway when I felt a tug on my arm. I looked down to see one of the students who is part of the KIND program at our school. "Am I not getting a bag today?" She asked me. "Of course you are," I responded. She beamed from ear to ear and ran back into her classroom.
"He truly is making a difference in these children's lives."
There are many people in the Montgomery County who are unaware that tons of children go home each weekend with barely any to no food in their pantries. What Mr. Lichenstein and the KIND program does for these kids not only provides them with meals to appease their hunger, but it makes them feel special and that someone out there cares about them, which is a huge deal to them. I know firsthand because I see their reactions each Friday when they take their food home. He truly is making a difference in these children's lives.
